Superannuation and retirement planning for doctors
Retirement planning should begin a long time before your final years of work. It pays to know all of the options available to you as a medical professional to achieve your long-term goal of a comfortable retirement.
Retirement planning for doctors
When considering their retirement plan, many doctors assume they should set up a Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF). However, these are not the right option for everybody. A key element of our retirement planning strategy for doctors is to determine the right retirement savings vehicle for you. We will work with you to determine your financial retirement goals, then provide strategic advice to get you there. If an SMSF is the right option for you, we will help you determine at what stage of your career you should implement it and then help you set it up.
Additionally, our superannuation team works closely with our Financial Planning division giving you access to additional investment advice as and when you need it.
Our suite of services includes:
Preparation and lodgement of end of year accounts and income tax returns
Pension strategies and advice
Specialist technical advice
Self Managed Super Funds
A Self Managed Super Fund (SMSF) allows you to take direct control of your retirement funds and convert your hard-earned money into a nest egg for your retirement. SMSFs require a much higher level of involvement in investment decisions and compliance with Superannuation legislation (SIS act). The laws governing SMSFs are extremely complex and intricate and are regularly modified by the government.
Walshs are accredited to provide advice to Self Managed Superannuation Funds and are experienced in giving specialised advice on retirement planning for doctors. We handle all documentation relating to the setup and ongoing administration of your SMSF, as well as completing superannuation fund tax returns.
Our SMSF services include:
SMSF establishment, administration and compliance
SMSF taxation advice
