This month, Walshs celebrates its 30th anniversary. It’s a significant milestone for the company which has grown to become one of Brisbane’s leading fully integrated financial services firms.
“Our firm has come a long way since it was founded back in 1991,” Founder and CEO Michael Walsh said.
“Watching the firm grow from three staff members to having six driven partners and over 60 staff have been a delight for me”.
“Starting a business from scratch always has its challenges but the loyalty and support of clients and staff over the years has made the journey professionally rewarding and enjoyable”.
The past year has also been pivotal for the firm, settling into new offices, while continuing to embrace innovation in the delivery of financial services.
Mr Walsh said he was most proud of the reputation the firm had developed in the Brisbane community, the staff the business had trained over the years, and most importantly seeing thousands of clients achieve their financial goals.
“We’re very proud of the long-lasting relationships we’ve built with clients,” he said.
“We have an outstanding team of experienced accountants, financial planners and support staff who are committed to delivering the best possible results for our clients.”
As for some of the changes and challenges the company had experienced over the decades, Mr Walsh said technology had probably been the most significant.
“I remember writing letters to clients and the Australian Tax Office,” he said. “It was probably a good thing as it took them weeks to answer!
“We have definitely come a long way to now with the ability to be able to instantly communicate with clients, especially in the past year with COVID, although this can lead to a 24/7 environment which creates its own challenges.
“However, our philosophy – the desire to help clients become financially independent, support their families and enjoy their later years – has not wavered since the start.”
Mr Walsh envisages change to come for Walshs include the way the business delivers ideas and deals with regulatory bodies.
“The need to constantly upgrade and learn new skills as well as the pressure to provide immediate service will also be other challenges for all of us,” he said.
“But it has been a tremendous 30 years so far and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients, referrers and supporters.
“As a firm we hold a positive outlook for the next 30 years and beyond.
“We look forward to continuing to achieve successful outcomes for our clients.”
