Walshs’ CEO Michael Walsh said last year the Walk with Walshs team raised more than $20,000 to support the Leukaemia Foundation’s ESA Village.
“This year we’d like to raise the bar and reach at least $25,000,” Michael said.
“It costs $80 a night to host a family at the ESA village, so if we can raise $25,000, we will support a room in the village for just over 310 nights. If we raise $30,000, we would cover the costs of one room for a whole year.”
Located in the Boggo Road Urban Village, the Dutton Park ESA village is one of four villages in Brisbane. The villages were created to provide free accommodation to leukaemia patients and their families from rural and remote areas of Queensland needing to stay in Brisbane for treatment.
The accommodation, which is provided completely free of charge to the patient, is funded by the Leukaemia Foundation through grants and donations.
